Research projects
electrical power
The electrical power research group (EPRG) is a dynamic mix of people with research expertise, academic expertise, and industrial expertise. This highly motivated group with international mix of personnel is at present working in the following areas:
- analysis of network unbalance with high wind energy penetration
- anti-islanding and distributed generation
- grid-tie inverters
- intelligent electronic transformer
- investigation of the effects of phase unbalance on the performance of distribution connected wind generators
- network constraints in transmission networks with significant wind generation capacity
- network integration of micro generation technologies
- power quality monitoring and analysis
- power quality issues in relation to wind energy integration
- power signature analysis
- smart grid technology platform
