commercial sector wood fuel supply chain and quality

The goal of this research is to produce an adaptable economic model of the wood chip supply process in Ireland. The model will track both the fuel quality (moisture content, calorific value and physical properties, like weight and shape) and fuel cost (cost of production, transport, drying and storage). A number of alternative feasible supply chains will be assessed from both quality and economic perspectives.

The results of this research will make wood fuel systems easily comparable with conventional gas and oil systems and highlight problem areas in the supply chain. This analysis will help wood fuel technologies in becoming a more substantial player in the Irish market.
