New to DIT and Looking for Disability Support Services?Posted: 23 August, 2018
If you have just accepted a place in DIT this September - congratulations and welcome!
DIT offers a number of supports to all students with a disability, for example, learning support, assistive technology support and exam accommodations. To receive such supports, students must register with the Disability Support Services (DSS) to arrange a needs assessment with a Learning Support Officer (LSO). At this meeting, we will discuss your background, your programme of study and the nature of your disability to establish your needs and put in place the support you will need during your time at DIT. You don't have to be eligible for DARE to get support in college and any student with a disability can register with the DSS.
Disability categories include - Physical, Sensory, Mental Health, ADHD or ASD (including Asperger’s Syndrome), Specific Learning Difficulty (SPLD), DCD, Significant Ongoing Illness and Neurological.
To register, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible and include the following four pieces of information:
- Your full name
- Date of Birth
- Your DIT Student Number
- Your Programme Code/Year of Study
Once the DSS receive your email, they will contact you to advise on how you can arrange a meeting with your Learning Support Officer. Although you can register throughout the academic year, it is highly recommended that you register before Friday, 5 October 2018, so we can apply for funding to provide you with the best support available.
